Palestinian-American Adolescent Freed After 270 Days in Israel's Detention

An Palestinian-American teenager who spent 270 days in Israeli detention without charge was released.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim had just turned 15 during his detention last February within the occupied West Bank, where he was visiting while residing in Florida accused of stone-throwing at Jewish settlers, which he previously denied.

The US state department said it welcomed Mohammed's liberation.

Currently aged sixteen, required hospitalization for treatment immediately after release, relatives told the media.

They said he is visibly pale and thin, while battling health issues developed during imprisonment.

Via family representatives, Mohammed's uncle conveyed their "tremendous relief".

Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "living a horrific and endless nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"Currently, we are focused on getting Mohammed urgent medical care necessary for his recovery after being subjected to mistreatment by authorities and brutal treatment over several months."

US officials stated they would maintain to extend consular services to Mohammed's family.

{"The Trump Administration has no higher priority to the protection and welfare for United States citizens"," officials stated.

Several congressional representatives endorsed a document to US authorities and President Donald Trump, urging greater action to secure his release.

Mohammed's parent, a father-of-four managing a frozen treats business based in Tampa, had earlier stated Mohammed acknowledged allegations to throwing stones because the soldiers beat him.

The father hadn't visited or communicated with his son following the detention, learning information solely what had happened to him through judicial records.

Mohammed was held lacking indictment in Ofer prison on the West Bank.

The facility also contains grown detainees, including individuals found guilty of serious terrorism offences including killings.
