Alarming Video Reveals Instant Officers Suffer Blade Attacks in Surprise Attack

Both Sergeants Instants Prior to the Assailant Received Electric Shock

One ranking policeman that leaped to the help of a fellow officer who was ambushed by a knife attacker has been awarded the King's Commendation for Bravery.

Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with 27-year-old Jacob Brown following he held a knife to the neck of his partner Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the officers and their third officer, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist subsequent to a road collision in Whalley Range in summer 2023.

Brown stabbed and slashed the two Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster before PC Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a Taser.

"Officer knifed," PC Wolstencroft stated over his radio.

Bodyworn and dashcam recording released by the agency showed Brown, that was clothed in dark clothing with a hood covering head, rush to Sgt Foster from the rear with a knife extended.

He ran into the policeman who tripped and fell to the street, after which Sergeant Ansell intervened and attempted to subdue him to the pavement despite being multiple times hit with the knife.

PC Wolstencroft Incapacitated the Attacker, Jacob Brown, with a Taser

PC Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and sought a clear shot, concluding the confrontation to an finish.

Sgt Ansell can be heard to say: "I need something on my throat here, I've been stabbed in the neck."

Sergeant Ansell suffered two open wounds to his neck and additional injuries to his arms and torso, while Sergeant Foster experienced slash wounds.

The department said Sergeant Foster employed his hands to control his fellow officer's bleeding before medical personnel came.

The latest recognition comes subsequent to the three officers won internal Courage Honors in October 2023 and the police federation award from the local Police Federation in early 2024.

They were also awarded a North West Valor Recognition in mid-2024.

"The actions of each policeman eventually saved each other and meant no bystanders endured any harm."

Brown was sentenced to an secure medical confinement in early 2024, per authorities.
